The author sounds like someone who has little focus when it comes to using the technology he has. Technology use needs to be somewhat purposeful. And so what that technology is changing and providing other tools for one to use. The Palm is certainly more than a replacement for a paper planner and calendar, or a storage device for pics and audio. However, if that is what is was used for - that was the purpose you decided to use it for, then so what. Everyone is different in the way they use technology.
The comment has been make, "If you were born before 1982, you'll never get it (technology), but those born after 1982 will always get it." This guy was born before 1982. The best and brightest teachers of technology will be those who are born after 1982, because technology has been and always will be a part of their natural reality. Someone like me (born in 1982) sort of gets technology, but has to work much harder to use it. My job is to help the current generation to have technology in their hands and guide them into purposeful use. Unfortunately, the generation that FUNDS technology is that pre-1982 group who is generally frustrated with the exponential changes in technology and don't really understand how it fits in today and in the future.
So...the Zen of Palm...find purpose and be wise in your use of the Palm. Respect the evolution of technology and buy new equipment if it suits you. It's really okay.
